The Training "Media Literacy 4 the Elderly" Conducted
Participants mastered methods of critical analysis of media content and learned to distinguish between reliable and unreliable information. Special attention was paid to recognizing manipulative techniques and false messages in various types of media. The course thoroughly examined issues of personal data protection when using digital tools and social networks. Participants learned about the principles of responsible media content consumption and the formation of healthy information habits. A separate block was dedicated to the main threats of the Internet, including phishing, online fraud, and other types of cybercrimes.
The "Media Literacy for Older Adults" course had a pronounced practical focus. Participants received specific recommendations regarding the protection of private data, safe use of technical devices, configuration of privacy settings on social networks, and action algorithms in case of detecting suspicious activities.
The successful implementation of the project was made possible through effective collaboration between Donbas State Pedagogical University, the Senior Citizens Support Foundation "Age of Happiness", and the charitable foundation "Slavic Dream". Such partnership interaction allowed the creation of a comprehensive educational program specifically adapted to the needs of older adults.
This training course is an important step in improving media literacy and digital security among representatives of the older generation, which is particularly relevant in the context of rapid development of information technologies.
