Project Title: “Ukraine – EU: Intercultural Communication in Education”

Timing of the Project: 18.11.2020 – 17.11.2023

Project objective and specific tasks:

  • introducing of the course “Intercultural Communication Studies” into the curriculum of future primary school teachers’ training at SHEI DSPU for preparing today’s Ukrainian youth for diplomatic interaction, reaching mutual understanding, avoiding barriers in communication;
  • promoting the integration of young people into the world and European youth community;
  • enhancing a tendency towards a high quality of life – factors that can develop positive attitude to Ukraine’s EU integration;
  • influencing the development of the high patriotism among the young generation representatives and developing their active citizenship.

Target group:

The project has 4 basic target audiences: Master students; university lecturers; secondary school teachers; secondary school students. 

Specific activities:

  • introducing the course “Intercultural Communication Studies” for training Master students in speciality 013 Primary education;
  • developing an open distance course “Digital Services of Intercultural Communication”;
  • holding summer school “Integration Through Communication” for secondary school teachers and university lecturers;
  • publishing didactic materials with project results of teaching the course for university students and lecturers;
  • publishing collective monograph “Experience of Intercultural Communication: History and Theory”;
  • developing web-site for informing the community about the process and results of the project implementation and about the relevant issues of Ukraine’s European integration;
  • holding communicative events: conference “Professionalism of the Teacher Under European Digital Innovations”, roundtable debate “European Way: Integration through Communication”.

Expected outcomes:

  • improving the level of the development of students’ intercultural competence for building intercultural dialogue;
  • getting the relevant knowledge of cultural diversity and its influence on interacting between different cultures representatives in different life spheres;
  • developing the skills of the youth representatives to build their strategies of intercultural communication.
